The Living Knitwork Pavilion received a special mention at the 2024 Architizer A+ Awards in the Plus: Architecture + Innovation category. This architectural piece was developed and built by a team of researchers from the MIT Media Lab and MIT School of Architecture and Planning, and led by PhD student Irmandy Wicaksono.

The Living Knitwork Pavilion is a customized and modular textile shade structure consisting of 3D-knitted optically and electrically-active yarns that sense activities and dynamically change color and light up through the day and night.

The Architizer A+Awards is the largest awards program focused on promoting and celebrating the year’s best architecture and spaces. Its mission is to nurture the appreciation of meaningful architecture in the world and champion those designers that are integral to bringing great buildings to life.
